Checking the operation of the automatic transmission selector lever (A4A42)

Move the automatic transmission selector lever through all positions, check the smoothness of the selector lever movement and its controllability. Check the correct indication of the position of the selector lever.

Make sure that the selector lever can be switched to each position.

Start the engine and make sure that when shifting from «N» V «D» the car moves forward and when switching to «R» - back.

If the selector lever malfunctions, adjust the automatic transmission control cable and the selector lever clutch. Check the moving parts of the selector lever mechanism assembly for wear.
