Causes of injector failure

1. Insufficient fuel pressure and fuel leaks at the injectors may be a possible cause of a hot engine starting problem.

2. If the injectors do not work when the engine is cranked by the starter, check for the following faults:

• malfunction of the power supply circuit of the computer or the connection circuit with «weight»;
• malfunction of the main relay of the engine management system;
• malfunction of the crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor.

3. If the engine idle speed does not change when the injectors are turned off one by one, check the following on the corresponding cylinder:

• nozzles and their wires;
• spark plugs and high voltage wires;
• compression in the cylinder.

4. If the injection system is OK, but the injection duration is not correct, check for the following faults:

• does the mixture burn completely? (are the spark plugs, ignition coil, normal compression in the engine cylinders, etc.).

5. The malfunction indicator lamp is on or the HI-SCAN displays a malfunction code in the following cases:

• the injector itself is faulty.

Health check

With the HI-SCAN instrument:

• turn on the nozzles one by one;
• check the duration of fuel injection by injectors.
