Pic. 6.5. Filling the reservoir with brake fluid
Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and fill the reservoir with brake fluid (pic. 6.5).
Attention! If brake fluid comes into contact with painted surfaces, wipe up spilled fluid immediately.
Note. Do not press the brake pedal when bleeding the brake system under pressure.
Connect a clear vinyl hose to the disc brake caliper or drum brake slave cylinder bleeder port. Dip the free end of the hose into a container of clean brake fluid.
Press the brake pedal several times.
Pic. 6.6. Removal of air from a hydraulic drive of brakes
While holding the pedal fully depressed, loosen the bleeder screw until brake fluid begins to flow out. Then tighten the bleed screw (pic. 6.6).
Repeat pumping until air bubbles stop appearing along with the brake fluid.
Tighten the bleed screw.
Bleeding torque: 7–13 Nm.
Pic. 6.7. Sequence of removal of air from a hydrodrive of brakes
Perform the above brake bleeding procedure for each wheel in the sequence shown in figure 6.7.
