1. It is allowed to start work on the airbag at least 3 minutes after the ignition key is turned to the LOCK position (TURNED OFF) and disconnect the wire from the negative terminal («-») battery. The airbag has a back-up power system that ensures it will deploy if the battery cable is disconnected in an impact. Backup power is applied for approximately 150 ms.
2. When disconnecting the wire from the negative («-») battery, the contents of the clock and audio memory are deleted. Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to write down the audio system data stored in the memory. At the end of the work, you must re-enter these data and set the time on the clock.
3. Since it is difficult to detect symptoms of a malfunction in the airbag system, diagnostic codes are the main source of information when troubleshooting.
4. When troubleshooting the airbag system, always check the diagnostic codes before disconnecting the battery.
5. Do not use airbag parts taken from another vehicle. Parts should only be replaced with new ones.
6. Do not attempt to disassemble and repair airbag modules (PB8, PBP, BPB, PRB), contact disk and wiring for the purpose of their further use.
7. If any of the elements of the airbag system falls or if cracks, dents and other defects appear on the module case, bracket or wire connector, replace them with new ones.
8. After completing work on the airbag system, turn on the ignition and make sure that the airbag malfunction indicator lamp goes out after a set period of time. In some cases, a check dump fire may be caused by a malfunction in other systems. Therefore, when the control lamp lights up, immediately after troubleshooting or replacing defective parts, including the fuse, delete the diagnostic codes using the device «Hi-Scan».
9. When performing welding body work, be sure to disconnect the wire from the negative terminal («-») battery.
