Examination
Rocker arms
1. Inspect the rocker roller surface. If there are pits, damage or binding due to overheating, replace the rocker arm.
2. Check the ease of rotation of the roller. If there is play or uneven rotation, replace it.
3. Check the inside diameter of the hole. Replace rocker arm if damaged or scored.
Rocker shafts
1. Check the portions of the shafts on which the rocker arms are located for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.
2. Check if the oil supply holes are clogged.
Installation
Install the No. 1 bearing cap so that the notches on the ends of the rocker shafts are directed as shown in the figure, and tighten the bolts.
Comment:
- 1. Because bearing caps #1 and #2 look the same, check the numbers stamped on them.
- 2. Make sure the oil grooves are facing down as shown in the figure and the oil holes are on the side of the rocker shaft (A).
- 3. Since bearing caps #2 and #3 look the same, check the numbers stamped on them. Then attach the covers.
- 4. Apply oil to the inside of the rocker arm holes and secure the rocker shafts.
- Tightening torque: Bolt for fastening the rocker arm assembly and their shafts - 19-21 Nm.
