2. Incorrect rim and tire selection can adversely affect handling, wheel and bearing life, brake cooling, speedometer/odometer accuracy, braking distance, headlight beam, bumper height, ground clearance, and tire-to-body distance..
Depending on the type of tires, the following disks are installed, indicated in the table "Correspondence of tire sizes with wheel disk parameters".
- For example, a possible marking is given: 6Jx15H2 ET38 4H PCD114,3 D1A67
In the marking of wheel disks, the first digit "6" denotes the width of the rim (H), expressed either in millimeters or inches. Letter "J" denotes the shape of the rim. Subsequent number "15" indicates the diameter of the wheel disk (D) in inches, which must correspond to the fit diameter of the tire being installed. Number "38" after the letters ET stands for disc offset (ET) in millimeters.
Also in the labeling there are the following designations: "H" or "H2" means the presence of one or two annular protrusions on the rim; "4H" indicates the number of holes for mounting bolts or studs; digits after designation "DIA" - diameter of the central hole; digits after designation "PCD" - the diameter of the location of the holes for mounting bolts or studs.
